Volunteering for us

Welcome to Volunteer Services at Birmingham Women’s Hospital and thanks for considering becoming a volunteer.  We take volunteering seriously.  So much so that in 2013 we were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, one of just three organisations in the West Midlands given this honour.

Whether you would like to give something back, make new friends, enhance your existing skills, learn something about a career in the NHS, then Birmingham Women’s Volunteer Service is for you.

We have lots of different opportunities in the hospital.  The Trust is committed to engaging volunteers in meaningful roles that enhance our services and add value to the patient and family experience. Our volunteers work in the Antenatal Clinic, on the Meet and Greet desk, on the Maternity wards, in the Radiology department, Milk Bank, Neonatal Unit and as administrative support volunteers in a variety of departments.

If you’ve got a few hours to spare each week; if you are an enthusiastic person who can attend regularly for minimum period of six months and you want to do something rewarding and worthwhile, then volunteer with us.

In return, volunteering with us will give you lots of benefits too. Here are some of them:-

  • Increased feeling of self esteem, self worth and confidence
  • An opportunity to give something back to the community
  • Enhance existing skills and learn new ones
  • An opportunity to meet like-minded people
