Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is on the lookout for nine new Governors to help shape the future of its two hospitals.

The Council of Governors is looking for one new Public Governor from Birmingham or Solihull, two new Public Governors from the Black Country and six new Patient/Carer Governors.

Nominations open today (Monday 20 March) to anyone over the age of 16 who has a vested interest in Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Patient and Carer Governor roles are available to someone who is either a current or former patient or a parent/carer of a current or former patient from the last five years at either Birmingham Children’s or Birmingham Women’s Hospitals.

The successful candidates will have a say in key Trust decisions, play a role in representing the views of the people of the area they represent and hold the Non-Executive Directors of the Trust to account.

The Council of Governors meets formally four times per year and the new recruit will also be expected to attend two meetings every year with the Board of Directors. During these meetings, the Council of Governors discusses the performance and finances of the Trust and its future plans.
