As one of the busiest maternity departments in the UK our midwives are central to what we do and we’ve been celebrating their role as part of International Day of the Midwife. Our fantastic 350-strong team help welcome more than 8,000 babies to the world each year and are a special part of the pregnancy journey for so many families.

From the day you know you are pregnant, our midwives are there for you and your family, helping you choose how you want to have your baby and how you want to be cared for along the way.

To mark the occasion our midwives Sharon, Sam, Mo, Melanie and Nicola took the time to share what inspired them to become midwives and how they feel about the incredible bond they are privileged to share with so many families in these special videos.
